HVAC Fundamentals - Air Side Systems (Part 1)

Education Type:
On-Demand
Duration:
0.5 hours
Level:
Intermediate

Here we're taking a general look at the design intent and makeup of our air-side HVAC systems, including the role of ventilation and presence of centrifugal fans.

In these lessons we learn that, like the pump equation, the fan equation can be used to calculate fan system power or energy associated with specific operating pressures, flows, and efficiency factors.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, attendees will:

  • Be introduced to Air Side HVAC equipment;
  • Have built a knowledge base on common air-side equipment;
  • Be familiarized with common air-side HVAC equipment diagnostics tools
  • Be familiarized with common fan equations for estimating power usage and relationships between power flow rate and static pressure.
